Discover Toledo, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, as a free open air museum by strolling along its steep streets that reflect its grandiose past, when the city played a leading role in Spanish history. Known as the city of three cultures, due to the fact that for centuries Christians, Arabs and Jews lived peacefully. This was one of the Toledo´s most splendid periods when, among other important events, the Toledo School of Translators was founded. Later, when Carlos V came to the throne in 1519, the city became an imperial capital. This impressive medieval city and seat of the Cardinal Archbishop of Spain, is where the painter El Greco spent most of his life. Outstanding buildings are the Cathedral, considered one of the masterpieces of Gothic art; the church of Santo Tomé, famous for housing the painting of El Greco The Burial of Count Orgaz and the old Synagogue of Ste. Maria la Blanca, probably built in the 12th century.
The Parador Museo de Oropesa is a beautiful building that transmits its history and legends through spectacular function rooms, columns and arcades, an imposing courtyard and the enigmatic keep. It was once the ancestral home of the Álvarez de Toledo family, counts of Oropesa, and in past times sheltered soldiers, religious persons and nobles. In 1930, it was converted into the first historic Parador in the government-owned chain, paving the way for a network of lodgings located in castles, palaces, convents and monasteries which is unique in the world. A stay at the hotel becomes a date with history in an enticing location where you can relax and enjoy the spectacular views of the Sierra de Gredos mountains and excellent cuisine.
Innovative wine-making technology at Finca Constancia
The estate you are visiting today represents a landmark of innovation in the winemaking industry of Spain. In the world of wine, the concept behind traditional Châteaux in Bordeaux is the key to excellence and high quality in the final wine and this is the concept that the family implemented by building a new cellar in 2005. These are not only the two fundamental Bordeaux wine making principles of the parcel selection and gravity filling, that makes this estate a benchmark of excellence but also, the new winery beautifully integrates into the landscape where it is located, using avant-garde technology visually it is divided into three modules differentiated by the materials they use and which correspond to the phases of the winemaking process: stainless steel - the room that houses the fermentation tanks, glass - where the bottling warehouse is located and the wood – which collects the barrel room.
Throughout the tour you will be introduced to this innovative concept, beginning your experience with a guided visit through the vineyard and the winery and at the end you will learn wine tasting like an expert and discover what you have learned in four different wines of the estate.
Included in the experience:
• Guided visit through the vineyard and the winery
• Four wines tasting
• Expert masterclass on wine tasting
