When the Easter time take place?

What can we expect for Easter in Spain?
Undoubtedly, the most impressive event would be when the images, made of wood, gold and other materials cross the streets from church to church, holding for dozens of people. Believe or not, it's something that will touch your heart, so meaningful. 
However, depending on the region, you will find different groups of sculptures and of course, different ways to feel the Easter. You can jump from one city to another following the parades but it changes a lot for instance from North to South.
For instance, if you decide to go South such as Seville or Málaga, you will feel the real passion. However, if you decide to go North, such as Valladolid or Zamora you will feel the silence and withdrawal.
Anyway, Easter is spread in all regions but we have a bunch that there are completely different as you can expect. Spain is a box of surprises and even these religious events can become a party. Here you find some examples of atypical Easter parades:

The parade of the death in Verges (Girona)
One of the darkest parades that take place in Spain is undoubtedly this one. Dozens of people disguising as skeletons walk around the streets following the sound of the drums. When the night falls, the mystery starts!

The fun parade of Genarín in León
León is, under our point of view, one of the most lively cities in Spain, a great idea for a getaway indeed, tapas and art is always a great tandem!
Besides its wonderful values, they have an extra bonus: an original parade. The story turns back to the '30s, when Genaro, a popular citizen of León was killed in the middle of the night. This issue takes place during the Holy Thursday, so, the citizens tribute Genaro following their last way home. It's one of the best examples that religion and popular culture can be mixed!

Are you keen on music? It's a paramount part of parades in general, a live band always go together with the penitents. But, on this occasion, the drums are playing a key role. Hundreds of drums, at noon, will sound at the same time, making a breathtaking racket.
We cannot give an official number of events that will happen in Spain linked with the Easter, each village has its own traditions and its personal way to live those days.

And, what about food?
We can't deny that the Spaniards use food for each celebration! During the Lent, meat is banned on Fridays, so, it's time for fish! The most typical product is cod, especially cooked with chickpeas and some vegetables. So delicious!
But the cherry on top is the torrijas, no one can resist it to this sweet. We can find all the year around and the most relevant restaurants have added this dessert to the menus lately. It's a slice of bread dipped in milk and sugar, and after being covered by beaten eggs, the slices are fried in oil until golden. The magical touch is a pinch of cinnamon!
