The Canary Islands, a paradise for for gastronomy and good wines!

16/10/2020

Beyond their extraordinary landscapes of lava deserts and wild coasts, Canary Islands are not only a destination for nature and wildlife lovers. Not to mention an amazing sun and dream beaches.

The gastronomy is getting more and more value and most of the local products are used to create contemporary dishes… without forgetting the Canary Island tradition. To be mentioned that the islands are home of ten different wine Denominations of Origin, and some local drinks which are worth tasting, such as banana liqueur, or its own rum concoction, honeyed rum.

In addition, you will find different types of craft beers such as the "tuno beer" made with the cactus fruit and many others elaborated with sea salt which makes them very special and tasty. The perfect combination to pair with local handmade cheeses! And to round out the experience, you can finish by tasting the "majorero con pimentón", a cheesecake made with local cheese and paprika.

We would like to share with you here below a recent article from the New York Times with stunning pictures, about the particular vineyards of the island of Lanzarote.

The wine region of La Geria extends to the center of the island and to the south of the Timanfaya National Park, between the villages of Mozaga and Uga. A little more than 15 kilometers of a road with incredible landscapes: each vine stock grows on a layer of dried lava dating from the eruption of the Timanfaya volcano in 1730, protected by a small semi-circular wall.

Just one word: amazing! Judge for yourself:
