It's not hard for us to acknowledge that we love wine. With almost 70 different Appellations of Origin in Spain and about 20 in Portugal, arranging a wine activity on the Iberian Peninsula is not a hard feat.
We like taking things to the limit, though. When we talk about wine tasting, it is granted that the wines are of high quality, so we are in constant research for the newest: we always try to offer unique settings, heritage wineries, family-run businesses where the owners welcome you and explain their wines themselves.
Usually, wine tasting is only an excuse for us to be able to introduce you in a region, to display a piece of memorable landscape, to explain about local history or simply to offer a nice stop over between to destinations. Any excuse is valid for a glass of wine, actually.
Wine can be tasted almost everywhere in Spain or Portugal. There are certain regions where this activity becomes something really outstanding:
- Rioja is probably the most mature of all Spanish AODs and is indeed a place where history and landscape would also play a big role in your visit
- Ribera del Duero is still rather unknown but you would be surprised of the quality of some hotels in the region.
- Douro Valley is probably one of the few must-do areas in the world for the wine lovers
Jerez?, Evora? Penedes?
For us, wine is more than just a beverage. Wine is poetry, history and above all, a social expression. You learn more about a person in front of a glass of wine, or as Pliny the Elder wrote: In Vino Veritas. Come and enjoy this great truth with us!
